THE STORY OF YOGAMICO.....
FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE DETAILS OF REALISATION

YogAmico is a didactic kit studied to let children, and not only children, into the world of yoga
it could be used by teachers and/or parents who want to let their pupils and/or children know
this wonderful world.

At the beginning the name of the game was "The search for the Yoga"
(then it became the subtitle) thanks the precious help of
Angelo Porazzi, who shared his experience wuth us by giving advices about the cards and the puzzle,
and thanks to him we created the new name.
because everything started when, with three collaborators friends of mine I created the sequence
for the exams of the course "Lo yoga per bambini e ragazzi" that we attended in 2006.
During the lessons they told us that at the end we had to present a final work,
there would have been an exam... so we had only to start... Mariarosa kindly put us up for
a Saturday afternoon, when, Fausto, Donatella and I arrived, our kind host offered
us a coffee and a very good cake, it was two p.m. and until four p.m. we talked.
But there was the exam to think about, we didn't dare start talking about it... but then.. someone said
"So what do we do?"
So ideas started to be born, and the more we talked the more we were able to combine
our thoughts.
In a short time the draft of the story was born, the main purpose was that there were the
bases of yoga, so everything was thought of in function of the eight stages of Patanjali yoga.
We decided to meet on other Saturday afternoons and everything was finalised and completed....
All together we drew the mandala, which is in the kit. Thanks to one of my friends I obtained music
suitable for the journey we wanted to propose. I got some sheets of clothing
to represent the islands... So eveything was ready..
When we proposed our exam sequence the group was enthusiastic, we were very happy...
We liked it so much that we then went on talking about it...
So I thought about not leaving it simply as an exam sequence, but I wanted to put it at the disposal
of whoever wants to approach yoga in a completely new way.
All I can say is "have a nice journey"

YogAmico THE ELEMENTS OF THE GAME

THE BOXES
These are some of the first boxes that I painted at the beginning of summer 2008......
we liked to experiment a little... The name YogAmico arrived some time later,
so as you can see, the first boxes had the subtitle: The search for the Yoga...

These are some of the final boxes...

Dylan

Thanks to advice given by Jos, we have numbered and signed every box inside.
For example: 24 / 2008 (you have the 24th box created in 2008 ecc....)

THE MAP OF THE JOURNEY

on the map are illustrated the different places of the journey.
On every island shown by a brief poem, is explained what you are going to live on it.
Behind there is the letter that Matsyendra wrote to the future travellers.

THE CARDS OF POSITIONS
During the summer 2007 cards drawn by Lory and painted by dylan were born.
Lory who is able to reproducehuman figures, drew the people in various yoga positions,
then passed the cards to Dylan who added the backgrounds and then decorated everything...
On the back of the cards at the beginning we used a detail of Dylan's painting
but then for practical purpose we decided to use only one colour...
...These are three of the twelve cards...(Tree, Simple position and Flexed leaf).

THE CARDS OF TRANSFORMATION
The cards of transformation make yoga discipline a real game for children
in fact with these cards they become the elements of nature
that they see every day of their life..
These are two of the twenty included in the kit...

MUSIC BY "JOS" OLIVINI

We made the acquaintance of Giuseppe ed Elisa, his wife, during the first edition of Festival of Art in Clusone (BG) in 2004.
We got on well immediately and realised that we had many elements in common..
Jos is a musician, composer, painter and he teaches children the approach to music
with instruments and stories. In practice, like us, he is living his life for art, creativity and wellness.
Since then we have been in contact, exechanging didactic material, information and at various times we have met
for creative dinners. When the idea of YogAmico was born we did not hesitate...
Jos would have composed the music of the game.
When we talked about our project (in spring 2007)
Jos accepted with great enthusiasm. But how can we explain in words such a big and rich project?
Luckily we had the cd with music of other artists that
Lory used for her yoga exam for children.
Thanks to this, Jos had the guide for composing the music that today is the theme music of YogAmico
A little curiosity: instruments played by Jos are different in sound and origin;
he played this or that instrument depending on the the different feelings on each island...
he used about seventy instruments.....

THE PUZZLE
MANDALA OF FIVE ELEMENTS

The story is very simple...When with Fausto and Donatella we met at Mariarosa's house,
it was the third or fourth meeting and we were defining the realisation of our exam...
we sat around the table with some colours in our hands and a paper circle...
we drew a spiral in the centre to symbolize the fifth element: the space,
we painted the main lines for defining the spaces for different elements, so each one of us
started painting his space following his inspiration
and after five minutes the mandala was
moved and we continued the drawing of our previous companion.
 The mandale did eight turns.
This is the final work that you find inside the kit...

THE GUIDE

The guide of the game explains step by step all the journey,
it describes in detail what is necessary for getting ready and playing.
Inside there is described the story, there are all the indications about what you are going to do,
it is complet with all the illustration that make up the kit.
